This morning, I went to catch the three kitties near the market. It was a lot easier than I expected. Especially as Happy chased them while I was getting tea at 7/11, and I thought I would struggle to find them after that. But they came back to their usual spot, and as I brought food, they came to me very quickly. I took them home and all the furry residents were very curious.
I asked the animal hospital to send a car to pick them up and I followed on my scooter. I also asked a friend to name them, and they are now called Reese’s, Cornflake and Cheeto. Reese’s is the calico. She’s the smallest, at 2.35 kg. Cornflake is the one that’s mostly white, and this morning he was rubbing all over my legs, so I think we’re friends now. He seemed to enjoy the human contact and was quite taken by one of the nurses. I asked her if she wanted to adopt him, but she already has two cats apparently. Cheeto is the mostly orange one. He was not happy to get caught, but when I grabbed him by the scruff of his neck, he didn’t resist. He was fine at the hospital. He’s the biggest one at 2.9 kg.
They all got tested for leukemia, FIV, corona, and a couple of other things. Reese’s is clear of everything. The males had very slight traces of giardia, an intestinal parasite. No big deal. Cookie had it too. Other rescues have had it too. Apparently pretty common in kittens. They’ll be fine with meds. But they need to be separated as it is very contagious. I think Dr Spy is being extra cautious.
They all got vaccinated, dewormed and were given anti-parasite drops.
They’ll get tested again in a week and, if all is well, they will get sterilised.
Until then, I’m going to put ads up to see if people want to adopt them. They’re quite young, but I forgot to ask the vet how old she thinks they are. I’d say between 4 and 6 months. I’ve texted to ask. She’ll confirm later.
Kittens are usually easier to get adopted, so fingers crossed.
As they are staying at the hospital, I have paid a deposit for each cat. 2,000 baht per cat (about £46). I got them kitten food and litter, and they are being kept in cages. I received videos already. Reese’s and Cornflake were eating. Cheeto was sleeping.
I’ve now got 30 animals registered under my name…
I also got Bravecto for the two sets of puppies I see every day, which cost 3,280 baht (about £75) and protects them against parasites for 3 months.
