Reese’s, Cornflake and Cheeto have all been adopted. I’m really happy about it, but I’m also sad I’ll probably never see them again. I went to visit them almost every day at the hospital, and I spent so much time cuddling them and playing with them. Even Cheeto was happy to see me after a few days. He didn’t want to come out and play in the first few days, but then, he became a big cuddler.

Reese’s was adopted on Sunday, by a Thai man who has a lot of animals back home, where his family live. From what I gathered, chatting with him through Google Translate, he feels very lonely here and misses his cats. Reese’s started to make biscuits on him as soon as he held her, so I think they had no problem bonding. He texted me a picture this morning and told me she was cuddly at night but wanted to go out during the day. I really hope he doesn’t let her out. I suggested he got a harness to walk her outside.

In his province, his animals seem to have a lot of space, but I think he lives in a cheap room here. I’m assuming he’s here to make money as there are more job opportunities in Phuket. From his FB account and from his exhausted look, I started to wonder if he might be ill. He does seem kind though. I hope he’ll keep updating me. I wonder if he’ll end up taking the cat to his province.

The boys were picked up today by a lady who replied to my urgent call two days ago. I really didn’t want to put them back on the street, but I also couldn’t keep them at the hospital forever. When I said they were going to leave the hospital on June 30th but had no home to go to, this lady said she was interested. My friend Nha helped with communication – I am so grateful for her, she always shows up for me and the animals when we need help. She also helps animals in her area, not far from here, and people in need too.
I’m so glad the boys are staying together. They love each other and are so cute together. I hope their new family will give them a beautiful life.

Part of me is relieved they were adopted by Thais, as they are less likely to move abroad and abandon the cats.
Little Brownie was also at the hospital from Friday to Monday. I posted on Instagram about her. Nothing too bad, but as she was limping quite badly, I didn’t want her to stay near the road and wanted her to recover in a safe space. She didn’t like the hospital experience so much. She got very excited each time I visited. I don’t know if all puppies do that, but she and a lot of other puppies I know just start pissing themselves when they get excited. I think my dog did that when I was a kid and she was a puppy.

Brownie was given deworming and anti-inflammatory meds while she was at the hospital, and she was very excited to get back to her area yesterday. She pooped as soon as she got out of the car. And then she pooped again in the field where she hangs out a lot with her little pack. I saw her this morning. She was perfectly fine. Her sister wasn’t there, but I saw her yesterday. I also put a poster up on Sunday, on a lamp post near the shops where the little pack hangs out.

Last, but not least, I finally got Softie to the hospital! I wrote about him before in this post, and posted on Instagram yesterday.
I hadn’t seen him in a few days, and I always worry when this happens. I can only hope he’s ok somewhere safe. He was at the entrance of the village, near the main road, just as I was coming back from the vet’s with Selina, my own cat, my first daughter, the apple of my eye, who needs daily treatment this week.
Softie was with his girlfriend. I could only check one ear, but there was no tattoo, and I wanted to get her too, but she was not too interested in listening. She wanted to play with Selina. Or maybe eat Selina. Selina in her bag definitely got her very excited.
I didn’t have a lead, I didn’t have dog food, but I knew my favourite nurse/driver (Poon – unsure of spelling) was in the area picking up a dog. I called him, hoping he was still around. My Thai is not great in person, and pretty terrible on the phone, but somehow, he understood me and came to help. Softie was super easy and Poon was able to grab him and put him in the car. He also helped with Softie at the hospital, as I wasn’t going back there right away, because I was planning on going again later to see the cats. I am also very grateful for this kind man, who has helped me multiple times now out in the field, not just at the hospital.
Softie got vaccinated, was given deworming meds, and had his wounds checked and cleaned by the vet. He is scheduled for sterilisation next Monday. He’ll have some time to recover and rest until then. I don’t think he loves being at the hospital, but I’ll try to take him for walks every day until then. They just told me I can, but I must have a harness. I do have one, so that’s all good.

I now have only one cat and one dog at the hospital. Softie is animal 33 registered under my name. Garfield is 32. He’s a sweet cat. I’ll have more time for him now he’s the only cat there for me. I need to start advertising for him. He needs a place to stay, as he can’t go back to the street. I’ll try to get Softie adopted too. He’s such a special dog, I want him to go to a special person, someone as sweet as he is. Not sure there are that many around in Phuket, but there must be some.
The good news about him is that his skin seems to have improved since I gave him Bravecto on June 13th. So, it wasn’t fungus. Probably just parasites.
I’ll write a post about bills tomorrow or Thursday, as they have finally given me detailed invoices and I need to go through them and through my receipts. I also need to settle the bill for the kittens, and check where I’m at with donations. Life’s been busy and I’m exhausted, but I’m happy the kittens didn’t have to go back to the street. And that Softie will finally get sterilised.
