Last night, before going to bed, I couldn’t stop thinking that we could actually get Baby out of the hospital and foster her for a little while. She’s healthy, she’s been vaccinated, and the only reason why I left her at the hospital was so she could be with her mother. But Princess needs to be isolated until she’s rid of her parasite and she’s due for retesting on the 29th. Which means Baby would have stayed on her own for another two weeks. And by fostering her, we’re also saving 250 baht a day!
The vet said it was safe to take her home and let her hang out with our cats. It’s good for her to socialise with other cats.
So here she is!
Our cats have had various reactions. Cookie, the youngest one, seems to be the most excited about having a new friend. Selina, our very first cat, started to groom the kitten when we were still at the hospital, so I think she doesn’t mind her presence too much. Salem seems unbothered, although he hissed at her a minute ago. Dangdang doesn’t seem happy at all. She hasn’t met the other three yet.
We set up a cage for her, for the night, and for moments when I can’t supervise her. Hopefully, she can gain some confidence while staying with us. She’s still very shy, but she likes toys and seems fascinated by the water fountain. She’s exploring my office as I’m typing this.
The total invoice for Baby came to 6772 baht (about £152). I already paid 3819 baht on Monday, so I paid 2953 today.
