Today was a beautiful sunny day. Unfortunately, I had to be on Zoom from 8am to 3pm for counselling skills practice, so I couldn’t take the dogs out for a long walk this morning. I went around the lake with Happy and Alien quite early. No friends joined, which was ideal for me, as I didn’t have much time to spare.

On the way back, Goofy was on the parking lot where I often park. I was worried he would follow us home, so I drove toward his home, kept on driving as I saw Kwai and Happy were following too, and I made them run quite fast for five minutes. When I turned around, I went even faster, so I could get to Floppy Ear’s home on my own and drop some food for the puppies – I actually haven’t seen Floppy Ear and Black Puppy for weeks now, and I wonder if anything has happened to them or if they have moved somewhere else. I want to find out. Then I dropped some food at Goofy’s camp, so he would be too busy eating to think about following us. Kwai knows to stop at her place, where Alien was waiting for me, and both Happy and Alien headed home with me.
I wanted to get some lemon tea, so I went a bit faster than usual, stopped at 7/11, and when I got out, Softie was there. I was so happy to see him, as I’ve been wanting to give him antiparasite medicine for a while now and bought it recently.

Happy and Alien had caught up and saw me with the dog. They were not too happy. I think they used to like him, but they don’t seem to like that I like him too. So they don’t like him so much anymore, and Softie got scared and started to show his teeth. Both Alien and Happy started barking at him so I took them back home and went back to Softie with the Bravecto I got for him and some food.
He ate the bravecto easily, which I was really pleased about. Hopefully his skin improves in the next few weeks. If not, the vet said he might have fungus when I showed her pictures. In which case he’ll need treatment.

He is not neutered, so I would like him to get neutered soon. Someone posted about him in an animal group last month, asking if anyone wanted to adopt him.

So, that was posted on May 21st, but the dog still hasn’t been neutered. I asked what happened and was just told that it seemed Soi Dog hadn’t picked him up. I can only assume that when Soi Dog went, the dog wasn’t there. Because more often than not, he’s not there in the morning. I know, because I often pop by the shop in the morning to get tea or dog food and he’s rarely there. He’s more likely to be found in the afternoon.
This post got 22 likes and 3 comments including mine. In an English-speaking local group that has almost 8000 people in it. That’s what I’m talking when I tell you there’s very little community here. She also posted in a Thai-language local group with 57k members, got 10 likes and only I commented. Is it because the post was in English? Is it because the dog doesn’t have a perfect face? I don’t quite get it.
I don’t know if this person is still actively trying to help the dog or if she thinks she’s done enough.
Softie is everything she said he is. That’s why I call him Softie. He’s adorable and loves cuddling. He’s often alone, although I have seen him with another dog before. He often walks through the village at night, which makes Happy bark, and that’s quite annoying because it wakes me up, but at the same time, I’m happy to see Softie is alive and well. I once had to go down at 3am to calm them all, as they were too excited and I really don’t want the neighbours to start having issues with my dogs.
After he finished his medicine, I gave him some food, which he was happy to eat, and then we had a little cuddle.

I received quite a few donations already, so I’m thinking I could probably check with my vet if she can take care of his sterilisation. I wonder if his immune system is strong enough for surgery. All the street dogs seem to be anaemic. But I’m pretty sure they don’t do a full blood test before surgery at Soi Dog, so it’s most likely ok to operate. I think the vet is just a lot more cautious. I’ll talk to her next week about Softie and what we can do. Until then, I hope he stays safe.
I wish my dogs weren’t so territorial, so Softie could hang out with them when he feels like it. It makes me sad to see him alone so often, when I know he loves company so much.
Once, he saw me waiting in line at the shop and waited for me at the door.

Some lady tried to shoo him away. It pissed me off. He wasn’t doing anything wrong. So I told her he was waiting for me. She gave me a dark look. I gave her one back. And then, the guy in front of me in the line started talking to me. He was very sweet. An animal lover too. He even showed me a video of his cat. And he knew where I lived! Happy and Alien have put me on the map!
